Art Direction
I have been developing AAA games for nearly 20 years at 1st and 2nd party developers, including starting a studio that was acquired by Sega of America. I also worked on the publishing side of the industry while at art director at Sega.
I have gained experience in many industry art roles. Starting out as a 2D artist back on the N64, I have also contributed to titles as a 3D modeler, texture artist, concept artist, animator, level artist, VFX, UI and UX designer, outsourcing manager, producer, art director, lead artist, and game designer. I even have done a little audio design. I’ve also managed and built large teams (60+), next gen pipelines, and projects at the director level. I’ve worked on projects for mainly PC and several gens of Console, with some experience on Mobile and VR.
I’ve directly worked 15 shipped titles (mainly console), and 5 shelved ones, and art directed at the publisher or consulted on more than 20 others. Some of my experiences are shared under “Select Games” in the Art Direction section of this site.
I also provide consulting services to teams looking for advice on art department management and growth, art direction technique, art pipeline setup, and game art evaluations.
